Social Graphs, Portable Neighborhoods
Here is the thing.
Not everyone whom I marked as a friend in social graph games version 1, do I still hang out with. Some moved, others I have nothing in common with any longer. Hobbies change, etc.
Just as I consider Linkedin and Facebook to be two wildly different networks, I pretty much find sites in general to be this way. Sure, some friends are portable... but in many ways social sites are sort of an archive for "this is who I was hanging out with then".
Friendster is sort of 1.0 (ok, ISCA would be 0.1, and Livejournal something like a 0.5).
Tribe 2.0
Facebook 3.0 (though Facebook is filled with friends 2.0 (aka high school))
Twitter, well I don't know what Twitter is.
But do I really want these to be portable? Not really.
Do I want to keep up to date with my friend's contact information?
Sure, that sounds excellent.
But the rest?
Not so much.
If Apple did a better job with Addressbook I would keep more information there (and keep it updated via some system (plaxo++)).
So what does all of this mean?
I am really bored with social sites, social graphs, and how many degrees I am away from anyone.

Just in case anyone cares, Hezbollah has taken over most of western Beirut. Apparently because someone threatened to turn off their private telephone network.
But never mind that. Here’s a picture of a cute capitalist imperialist baby hedgehog, apparently born with liquid assets. And probably a stock portfolio with substantial investment in the oil industry.

sometimes i look up and think "where have all my friends gone?"
i guess im not very good at making them or keeping them.
im making lots of crafty things. im eating too many biscuits.
skins is back on tv soon. at least thats something exciting.
i feel very very underwhelmed. good things are happening, but they dont make me any happier.
i dont know. i just dont know.
hopefully this isjust a phase.

I’ve been working with Jayne for almost three years before that day I ran into her in the hallway and we started talking about websites. After that conversation, she emailed me a link to her website and blog. Jayne is a cancer survivor that keeps fighting the disease for many years. I knew that before I started reading her blog but I didn’t know how much in common I have with her. Isn’t it interesting that you may work with some one for so many years and never guess how much you are missing by not talking to that person besides work issues? I love bogging, it brings new people into my life! Jayne’s blog talks a lot about how she deals with cancer, about healthy living and how everyone can help others. She also writes about her love to her husband and dog. Jayne teaches me how to appreciate each day given to me. I wanted to photograph her and her husband’s love. I really wanted but I didn’t get that one photograph that shows their story but I did get several pictures that go together…

Yes, ma'am, Katie does like to hint about sex -- as do I (which I scarcely need to mention to you attentive and delicious readers)!

Out of touch -- and (shortly) out of touch again!
Sorry I've been among the missing for the last three days. I had to knock off a messy project at work, finally getting it to a point I could pass it along to a colleague to mind for a few days.
Joanne and I are batting off to the West Coast for 5 days, mainly to watch my daughter graduate from law school! Woohoo, we never thought that would happen! No, not so -- once she got her mind set on "the law" [as we who are familiar with such arcane studies call it], it was all-out, full speed ahead!
(What? Didn't know I had a daughter? Well, no big secret, but she's lived with her actual mom a lot, out thataway! We keep in pretty close touch...not as much as either of us -- or Joanne, for that matter -- would like, but...)
Anyway, also catching up with Joanne's sister out there, sort of a family reunion on her side. All in 5 days in 2 states and 3 cities!
So this will be the last posts for a week -- see y'all next Wednesday!

Lady In Red
Katie has visited us before, but I thought it was time to catch up on her bar-hopping frenetic little life. She's the girl on the right, incidentally -- and doesn't SHE ever look like the cat what ate the canary!
All her shooting is in a similar sexy/fun/hangin' mode, just enjoying herself -- with, every once in a while, a suggestionof her preferences. To wit (from her Flickr profile):
